CCM Checkout User Interface
Overview
Project Brief
Camps & Class Manager is an all-in-one online registration, camp management and marketing software solution.
The Problem
Users were having a hard time finding the right camp/class for their children and needed a better filtration system along with more useful camp/class information at glance.
The Goal
Develop a new top of the funnel flow that allowed users to better filter camps/classes, improve content hierarchy, and overall usability and discoverability.
Responsibilities
Wireframing, user flow, and visual design.

Understand
Discover the root problem and the user
Before I began ideation, I reviewed the existing design and user flow to understand the product. I also met with stakeholders and the project managers to help me understand the issues with the current design.
Key Findings
- Confusing user interface makes it hard to find specific camp or class
- Must click links which open modals to get more details
- Registering multiple kids is a hassle
Exploration
Researched similar camp/class registration sites as well as booking and job boards that showcased great content and typography hierarchy with simplified filtering.
Ideation
Once I completed my review, I sketched out possible solutions and drafted low fidelity wireframes to discuss with stakeholders to get feedback.
Design
The following screens are the camps/class category page and event details page which start the check out process after finding the event through active.com or an organizer’s website. I improved the content/typography hierarchy, added camp/class details at a glance, improved filtering, and optimized the interaction of booking multiple kids for activities.
Project Learnings
Things I learned from this project:
- The power of typographic hierarchy. When displaying a bunch of similar information, it is important to make your content easily scannable.
- Being adaptable. This particular product had three project managers with each one having their own ideas so it was imperative to adapt to each person while keeping the design focused on its’ main goals.
